16 June 2023. The entire Municipal Corporation of the Town Council of Castellar (Jaén), representing the town that gives its name to the food company Mariscos Castellar, honours its beloved fellow citizen, friend and founder of the company, Francisco José García Muñoz, by naming a street after him, which from today will be called “Pepe García Muñoz”.
The inauguration ceremony, coinciding with what would have been Pepe’s 81st birthday, was held on the afternoon of 15 June at the entrance to the Mariscos Castellar processing plant, located on the street that now bears the name of its founder.
The event was an emotional tribute led by Pepe’s family and, in particular, by his son, Francisco García Calero, who dedicated a few words full of admiration, passion and pride for his father. After his speech and that of the local mayor, Pedro García, Pepe’s emotional wife, Elisa Calero, had the privilege of unveiling the street plaque surrounded by her children and the company’s current managing directors, Josefina and Francisco, her grandchildren and, of course, the rest of the family, friends and employees who accompanied them at this very special event.
After the tribute, the company held a reception for all those in attendance at its premises.
