HISTORY

Founded in 1969 by Pepe García and Elisa Calero, Mariscos Castellar treasures an experience of more than half a century in the development and distribution of premium quality sea products (especially seafood), which are delivered all over Spain.

The roots of this company –originally founded in Castellar (a village in the province of Jaén) – run back for three generations of the same family: from Pepe’s father, Francisco García (who already in the 1950s was in the grocery trade), to both his children, Francisco y Josefina.

With a solid academic and business training, the García-Calero brothers have taken the helm of a company. From its artisanal first steps, Mariscos Castellar bears as its banner the quality of their products and their professional seriousness. All along its steady evolution Mariscos Castellar has become an industrial company which is leading in the national food sector.

The company has succeeded in preserving the freshness of artisanal production in the modern industrialized process. The quality of the product is not altered thanks to the most advanced techniques in cooking and deep-freezing.

All along these 50 years, Mariscos Castellar has not only evolved to face an increasingly demanding market (improving elaboration, storage and distribution procedures), but it has moved ahead towards the frontline of the sector; and all this with one clear challenge in mind: to reach their 50th Anniversary providing their clients with the most exquisite sea products and the most efficient distribution services.

Mariscos Castellar is today one of the most important seafood cookers in Spain and a benchmark in the distribution of frozen food in this country. Through wholesalers, its products are served in the most select hotels, catering companies, restaurants, bars and seafood restaurants. Furthermore, its products are available in a large number of Spanish supermarkets and food stores, being also exported internationally to European countries such as Portugal, England and the Netherlands.
